Indeed, MSC Seascape will also homeport in the cruise line’s state-of-the-art terminal in Miami, while MSC Meraviglia and MSC Seashore will be based in New York City and Port Canaveral, respectively. For guests who want to see it all, there will also be an option to combine both itineraries to create a 14-night Eastern and Western Caribbean Cruise. The Eastern Caribbean sailings will call on Puerto Plata, Dominican Republic; San Juan, Puerto Rico; and Ocean Cay, the cruise line’s private island and marine reserve in the Bahamas. Meanwhile, the Western Caribbean voyages will visit Costa Maya, Mexico; Cozumel, Mexico; Roatan, Honduras; and Ocean Cay.

The inside of these ships provides numerous amenities for guests to enjoy. The ship's hub is a spectacular promenade with a spacious shopping area, restaurants, and bars, covered with a colorful ceiling with LED lights covering an area of 12,000 square feet. MSC’s mighty Meraviglia class brought the company into the realm of mega-ships, welcoming over 6,000 passengers. With five ships currently sailing, this is the largest class of ships in the fleet and has been instrumental in the cruise line’s growth plans.
MSC Meraviglia class ships
The ship offered 3 itineraries departing from NYC - two 10-night roundtrips and one 13-night repositioning Caribbean cruise NYC to Miami. The 1st 10-night roundtrip itinerary (October 8, 2019) visited Sydney NS, Corner Brook NL, Charlottetown PE (Prince Edward Island) and Quebec City (overnight). The 2nd roundtrip itinerary (October 18, 2019) visited Bar Harbor ME, Saint John NB, Halifax NS, Sydney NS, Portland ME, and Boston MA.

I had multiple passengers throughout my voyage tell me that they waited between two and three hours in line to board the vessel. While most experiences on this sailing fell in the latter category, it wouldn't be a fair review without calling attention to the things that I think the line needs to address. My travel companion and I inexplicably wound up in Sportplex after dinner on formal night. We played for half an hour — enough time for two games if it's only two people and you move quickly — and were ultimately joined by the Yacht Club director, Craig (who won easily). Levies extra charges, passengers have the option of paying a la carte for items individually priced as low as $2.95 or paying $17.99 for unlimited menu items. The salsa and guacamole are wonderful, the tortilla soup always hits the spot for me, and the tacos are small, so you'll be able to try several to find your favorite without feeling overstuffed.
Activities and Entertainment
The MSC Yacht Club is filled with ultra-luxury suites that feature more space and more luxurious furnishings and décor. Do note, though, that some MSC Yacht Club suites are nicer than others. When you choose to apply (and are approved) for a new credit card through our site, we may receive compensation from our partners, and this may impact how or where these products appear. Please view our advertising policy and product review methodology for more information. Each group has age-appropriate activities scheduled, and all — except the tweens and teens, who can come and go as they please — are heavily supervised by qualified staff. Sample activities might include storytime, arts and crafts, and Lego playtime for younger children, while tweens and teens enjoy less structured pastimes like video games and dance parties.
MSC Meraviglia Ship Review
It comes out hot and fresh, and it's available by the slice in several types from two separate counters in the buffet. Bathrobes and slippers were provided, and I made good use of both when I went for a massage at the spa. Finally, MSC Meraviglia's sports equipment is kept under actual lock and key. You have to sign out everything from pickleball paddles to basketballs for use on the indoor sports court and volleyballs for the pits on Ocean Cay.
STATEROOMS & SUITES
While no longer one of the biggest, best and most advanced cruise ships in the world, MSC Meraviglia certainly still holds its own. While it might not be the perfect fit for foodies, it still has a lot to offer if you want a well-rounded cruising experience with lots to do and convenient itineraries leaving from the U.S. Ocean view staterooms likewise can be broken down into several sizes, including junior, deluxe and premium. Do note that some of the junior ocean view staterooms do come with an obstructed view. Otherwise, you can rely on all ocean view staterooms to have a true ocean view via a small-ish rectangular or circular window on one end of the cabin.
At 92,409 to 95,128 tons, the four vessels in the series are barely half the size of MSC Cruises' massive Meraviglia Class ships but still big enough that they have a lot to offer. In addition, each of the vessels has a large spa, casino, disco, outdoor cinema and multiple showrooms, lounges and bars. Back in 2008, when the ships in this series began debuting, they were among the biggest cruise vessels in the world, and they still are relatively large by cruise ship standards — if not quite as big as the latest MSC Cruises ships.
Dining
It consists of two Meraviglia-class ships and two Meraviglia Plus-class cruise ships. There are many ways to spend outside with a spacious deck area, al fresco dining, and plenty of pools/ hot tubs and lounging areas. The launch of MSC Seashore in 2021 created a subclass of Seaside termed EVO (short for evolution) with even more improved environmental technologies. This change resulted in an additional 15,000 in gross tonnage and space for 800 extra passengers.
While the dining experience on this ship is certainly improved over past MSC Cruises offerings, there’s still something to be desired. Cruisers more accustomed to other cruise lines often expect at least a few more free restaurants beyond the main dining rooms and buffet, even if they’re just casual, quick-bite eateries. Balcony staterooms likewise differ, but all can fit four travelers. They range in size, but you won’t find any that are particularly larger than the ocean view staterooms. Aurea balcony staterooms come with spa-related amenities, but otherwise, all balcony staterooms are outfitted sitting areas both inside and outside the cabin, on the balcony, with large glass doors leading out to the exterior space.
Fine dining options include Kaito Sushi Bar, Kaito Teppanyaki Restaurant and American steakhouse (Butcher's Cut) featuring specialty meats from all around the world. The Horizon pool offers superb sea views and yet more open-air deck space for sun worshipers during the daylight hours. At night, the area will be transformed into a stunning outdoor spot for dancing and all kinds of entertainment under the stars. There are 15 passenger decks and, beyond the capacity for 4,500 passengers, the ship holds 1,536 crew members. This small number of options is admittedly disappointing, especially for those who don’t want to splurge for specialty dining during their cruise.
Elsewhere, there are no shortages of places to relax on MSC Meraviglia. Among the standouts is the Brash Anchor Pub, which feels like an authentic British pub and features a limited bar menu, including fish and chips. The Butcher’s Cut Steakhouse offers brunch on sea days and nightly dinner selections. Bella, the entry-level experience, is sort of your very basic, bare-bones cruise without much in the way of perks. While Meraviglia may not be the newest or most innovative ship in the MSC Cruises fleet, it holds a special place as the first in the Meraviglia class. In October 2017, MSC Cruises installed on Meraviglia a modern "Man Overboard Detection System".
The cruise line had also enlisted the help of a celebrity chef to improve dining quality. It's time to learn about the MSC Meraviglia cruise ship, the first in its class, with a full overview of what's onboard and what to do. MSC's MSC for Me app allows passengers on the same ship to chat with one another for free without purchasing a Wi-Fi package. The app also lets you make dining reservations, check the daily schedule and view your onboard bill. Another free entertainment option worth mentioning is daytime street theater that includes contortionists, roving musicians, magic workshops and flash mob-style performances by the onboard singers and dancers.
The studio interior cabins are specifically created for single cruisers and, as such, are on the smaller side, nearly half the size of the deluxe interior cabins in some cases. Interior cabins include double or single beds (you have to specially request single beds, though), and bathrooms with showers and vanities. Interior cabins are further broken down into studio interior cabins and deluxe interior cabins. The Polar Aquapark on Deck 19 aft offers plenty of wet fun for kids and adults. Attractions include three slides — a bowl slide, where riders awkwardly end in the bowl and then exit via a flight of steps, and two twisty slides that require rafts — and a splash area with sprayers and dump buckets. There's no fee to use the space, but you'll need to sign a waiver and obtain a wristband before riding the waterslides.
